Custom glass has to be templated first, then cut, edged, and tempered to the exact dimensions of your opening, and tempered glass cannot be trimmed or adjusted after that step. Showing up to measure and install glass in the same visit would mean either using stock sized glass instead of a true custom fit, or guessing at your measurements before the panel is fabricated.

The template visit is where we measure the opening, confirm the enclosure type, and go over hardware and glass options. Fabrication happens after that, off site, and install is scheduled once the finished glass and hardware are ready. Two visits total, template and install, is what makes the exact fit possible.

It is not required, but there are a couple of practical reasons people often do both together. If your current mirror is glued directly to the wall, it is common for that same bathroom to be due for other updates at the same time, and having one crew handle the shower glass and a new vanity mirror in the same project avoids scheduling two separate visits months apart.

There is also a cost efficiency angle. Since we are already coming out to measure and install glass, adding a mirror to that same visit is generally more efficient than a standalone mirror job scheduled on its own, though the mirror itself is priced and fabricated separately from the shower enclosure.

That said, plenty of customers replace just the shower door and leave the existing mirror alone, and that is a completely reasonable choice if the mirror is in good shape. Mention it when you call if you want a quote on both, and we can plan the visit around either scope.

No special products are required. A squeegee run over the glass right after each shower, before water has a chance to dry and leave mineral deposits, does more for keeping frameless glass clear than any cleaner you could apply afterward. For a deeper clean, a basic non abrasive glass cleaner or a simple vinegar and water solution handles soap film and light buildup fine.

What to avoid matters more than what to use. Abrasive scouring pads, steel wool, and anything with grit will scratch the glass surface permanently, and scratches on glass cannot be buffed out the way they can on some other materials. Ammonia based cleaners can degrade hardware finishes and any protective coating on the glass over time, so a plain glass cleaner is the safer default.

Hard water is the biggest long term factor in this area, and untreated mineral deposits left to sit on glass for months can etch the surface permanently. If squeegeeing after every shower is not realistic for your household, ask us about a protective glass coating when we come out to template.

Shower door hardware, hinges, handles, clamps, and track components, comes in the same common finishes used on plumbing fixtures: chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, and brushed gold are all standard options, so matching your existing faucet and shower valve trim is usually straightforward.

Where it gets more specific is with less common finishes, such as a particular brand's proprietary bronze or a discontinued fixture line, where an exact match may not exist in glass door hardware even if it is close in tone. In that case we will show you the closest available option rather than promise an exact match that is not possible.
