Custom Shower Door Installation for Chicago Homes

We install custom shower doors throughout Chicago. Frameless, semi-frameless, and sliding enclosures, each one measured on-site and fabricated for a single opening.

Installation is where custom glass earns its price. A door can be beautifully made and still fail if it is anchored into drywall instead of blocking, if the hinges are set without accounting for a wall that leans, or if nobody planned where the water would go. None of that is visible in a photo. All of it shows up the first week you use the shower.

Our own crew handles the install. The same company that measured your opening is the one setting the glass in it.

What to Expect When We Install

Most standard enclosures go in within a few hours. If you have an existing door coming out, add time for removal and cleanup.

We protect the floor and vanity before anything starts, pull the old enclosure if there is one, locate studs or blocking for the anchors, set and level the hardware, then set the glass. Silicone gets applied last, and it needs to cure before the shower is used. We tell you exactly how long to wait before running water.

Getting the Measurement Right the First Time

Glass cannot be adjusted on site. That single fact drives everything about how we install.

A door frame can be planed. Tile can be cut down. Trim can be scribed to a wavy wall. Tempered glass can do none of those things, because cutting or drilling it after tempering shatters it. Whatever we fabricate is what goes in, so the template has to be right before anything is ordered.

In Chicago that means accounting for real conditions rather than nominal ones. Pre-war buildings have settled. Bungalow bathrooms have had tile laid over tile, which changes the opening dimension. High-rise condos are usually square but come with building access rules that affect scheduling more than fabrication. We template after your tile is finished, note where the walls run out of plumb, and cut to the opening as it exists.

Custom shower doors start at $999. Every enclosure is templated on-site and fabricated to your opening, so the right choice depends on your bathroom rather than on the chart alone. Call (708) 808-7775 for a free on-site estimate.

Preparing Your Bathroom for Installation

A few things need to be done before glass can go in, and knowing them early keeps your project on schedule.

Tile and grout must be complete and cured. We template after tile, not before, because the finished surface determines the actual opening. Plumbing fixtures should be set. If your shower needs blocking behind the wall for anchoring a heavy frameless panel, that has to happen during framing, well before tile, so it is worth raising with your contractor at the start of the job rather than the end.

If you are working with a remodeler, we coordinate directly with them on sequencing. If you are managing the project yourself, we will tell you at the measurement exactly what has to be finished before we can fabricate.

Shower Door Installation Pricing in Chicago

Custom shower doors start at $999, with installation included in the quoted price rather than added as a separate line at the end. What moves the number is glass thickness, hardware finish, and the size and complexity of the opening. A straight semi-frameless door over a standard alcove sits at the low end. Frameless costs more because the glass is heavier and the hardware carries that weight. Neo-angle corners, steam enclosures, and full walk-in builds cost more again. Removal and disposal of an existing enclosure is quoted up front so nothing appears on the invoice that was not on the estimate.

Booking Your Installation

Call us and we schedule a free on-site measurement at your Chicago home. We look at the opening, check whether the walls run true, ask how the bathroom gets used, and talk through which style fits the space. If a sliding door is the right answer because a swing door would hit your vanity, that is what we will recommend.

After you approve the quote, your glass goes into fabrication at your measurements. We call to schedule installation once it is ready. Our crew handles the install, takes the old enclosure with them, cleans up, and walks the finished shower with you before leaving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most standard enclosures are installed within a few hours. Removing an existing door adds time. The longer part of the project is fabrication, since your glass is cut after we template the opening.

The silicone needs time to cure before the shower gets wet. We tell you the exact wait time at the end of the install, since it depends on the product used and conditions in the room. Using it early can compromise the seal.

Yes. Removal and disposal are handled as part of the job and quoted up front so the cost is visible on your estimate rather than added afterward.

Yes. We template after tile and grout are complete, because the finished surface determines the real opening dimension. Measuring before tile means the glass will not match the space it is going into.

Yes, and it is common in older Chicago homes. We note where the walls run out during templating and fabricate to those conditions. In some cases we will recommend semi-frameless, since the perimeter framing gives more tolerance than a fully frameless panel.

Heavy frameless panels need to anchor into studs or proper blocking rather than drywall anchors alone. If you are still in the framing stage, raise it with your contractor then. If the walls are already closed, we will identify anchor points during the measurement.

We fabricate and install our own glass, because we stand behind the fit and that requires controlling the measurement. If you have existing glass that needs hardware service or repair, that is separate work we do handle.
